#6 Alcohol
Believe you me, I know how hard it is to minimise alcohol especially during Covid lockdowns. Because alcohol is technically a poison, the body will metabolise or burn off the calories from alcohol first. What this means is that if you’re trying to lose weight and you’re still drinking (eg every night), the body burns the alcohol first before even hitting your fat stores, so weight loss becomes a little futile.

Think moderation! Limit drinking to the weekend if you can. Get rid of snacks that habitually go with having a drink and moderate your overall consumption – plus you won’t crave unhealthy food the next day. (FYI per gram there are 7 cals of alcohol (empty calories!) - compare that to 4 cals of carbs, 4 cals of protein, 9 cals of fat per gram)
